Hello everyone, Cyndi here! Over the past few months, we have been using hydroponics to grow lettuce for my guinea pigs. They eat leafy greens daily, and keeping them stocked up is otherwise difficult. Romaine takes up a bit of fridge space and only lasts for so long whereas going into the green room and cutting it fresh has been so much easier.

But growing them outside in the fall has been awesome! I mean look at that…Isin’t it beautiful? And it taste better than grown inside, I guess the real sunshine makes it better. This is a “Little Gem”.

George is about to plant another tray (maybe tomorrow) and has been hardening them off this week. These are “Outredgeous” and some kind of “Looseleaf” variety. I don’t give the piggies the red lettuce all the time but they can eat most green lettuce everyday, except for iceberg. Iceberg is a no-no for guinea pigs.

We are enjoying our homegrown veggies, it is amazing how much better things taste when you grow it and pick it that same day.

Blessings to you and your families!
